Conor sent me an email about the titleKey extension:

If you install the extension here - http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:TitleKey - searches in Mediawiki stop being case-sensitive. This would be great for the OSE wiki, as we've ha a recurring problem with this.

That link led me to this: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SphinxSearch

Maybe we should install SphinxSearch instead.

Or we could use a custom search engine from Google. See:

I've enabled the http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Google_Custom_Search_Engine extension on our wiki. Let's see how it goes.

More changes: our OSE Custom Search Engine now includes an option to search related sites, like P2PFoundation, Open Manufacturing group, The Household Cyclopedia, open hardware and permaculture sites, and more.

And you can also add the OSE search widget to your web page or iGoogle.
