  • I have three projects in preliminary phase.

    1. Collaboration
    software is hoped to provide ability for large numbers to share all in a
    mutually rewarding manner.  The idea is based on a mathematical theory
    of sociology I came across in June of 1976.  You can see the general

    Recent research seems to indicate something like this is used to
    coordinate the billions of cells in what is called the associative
    cortex of our brains.  It might be sort of a natural law of what viable
    organizing entails.  That is part of the inductive logic approach to
    hashing out the relative value of my idea.  More of that approach
    includes study of general systems theory, information theory,
    experimentation and analysis of group dynamics, cybernetics and
    associated sociology.  Computer science technology seems to be capable
    of providing the system dynamics in a world around manner using
    currently available means.  The deductive approach is a study in process
    that commenced with a paper written in about 1990 where I studied the
    natural history, archaeology and history needed to draw up
    stratification diagrams of past socializing experiments, listing
    recognizable categories of occupation and estimates of their populations
    for instances where sufficient data was available to do so.  Estimates
    of transition probabilities from one occupation category to another were
    then made to help complete the general models which are Markovian
    decision processes.  That study which was completed as a paper for a
    college class covered the time period of 500,000 BC to 1,000 BC which
    most likely included a major portion if not all of the time of human
    existence to the final time of the study.  Thought of how to proceed
    with the study to the present suggests a sort of computer aided analysis
    whereby the data could be entered and the markovian processes drawn up
    more readily.  That deductive approach seems to suggest the evolution of
    the social mechanisms we attempt to create for ourselves are trending
    towards something much like my idea.  Clojure is now considered as the most promising software to realize the experiment to test this idea so the data model in the above Google presentation document will change.

    2. After studying wind mill
    methods I was roughly designing a system where small light weight units
    would be hoisted between trees or otherwise hung from existing
    structures and shared this with a prolific inventor in 1976.  He said
    the idea looked good but that I would probably want to use his wind mill
    invention.  He then proceeded to show me his idea which I call
    Hotine vanes after him.  I've made a couple of Tinkertoy(R) models one
    of which can be seen on Youtube and found via a quick search for "Hotine Rotor.  I made another one like that but with two vane assemblies in 1976
    and hung from a low branch of a tree it spun smoothly, quickly and
    quietly despite having no bearings and the stock small vanes as in the
    Youtube video.  Wind was less than 5 mph and constantly changing directions and
    yet the very preliminary friction full device spun nicely.  The Hotine
    vane assemblies appear to provide major advantages over existing
    windmill designs, ability to fully exploit a counter-rotating multiple
    disc generator, light weight, no loss of power to reorient to changing
    wind direction and over-all efficiency as unlike any current design,
    returning vanes are fully feathered.  Two Quantum Bigfoot hard drives
    that were made in great quantities for a number of years are still
    available and provide easily connected counter-rotating discs with
    serviceable though sealed ball bearings.  I've collected the materials
    to do some experimenting and hope to do so soon.  Seems a Faraday disc
    type generator with counter-rotating magnetic fields hasn't been looked
    at and I aim to try that first.  Whether the final design uses a copper
    disc or conventional windings it  should not need brushes or slip rings
    which I find to be a potential  construction, maintenance and efficiency
    compromising non-necessity.  The plan is to make the sails, four on top
    of the top disc and four on the bottom disc, the right size so that in
    high speed winds the entire unit pivots off of vertical alignment to
    provide a governing system so the unit is limited in how fast it spins
    in case of stressing high wind bursts.  I see reference to studies
    suggesting if full advantage of a counter-rotating disc generator can be
    realized, the Betz limit might be overcome.  The design will not need
    any spinning shaft nor any belts, gears or drive wheels as the vanes
    will turn the magnet rotors directly.  Preliminary estimates suggest
    finished units could cost ten times less than current equivalent power
    producing models and be deployed in many more areas not needing
    dedicated support towers.  Fixed wind funneling cones on the top and
    bottom of each unit is considered to provide more efficiency in low
    speed wind conditions.  With wicker type material cages to protect birds
    each unit is thought to weigh no more than 35 pounds. 

    3. I
    have come across information that suggests climate change might be
    drastic and quick far beyond what is conventionally reported and posted
    that recently at http://www.transitiontownsca.org/forum/topics/how-serious-is-climate-change
    .  In lieu of this understanding I am completing design of a business
    that is meant to facilitate greenhouse gas emission free living.  It
    starts with a city farms and gardens service, launches a biodiesel
    fueling and service station that will also deal with vegetable oil only
    vehicles, builds sustainable architecture affordable housing and
    retirement facilities, collects waste vegetable oil for biodiesel
    manufacture and grows vegetable oil crops on marginal land as well as
    collect wasted crops which are plenty here in the Silicon Valley.  The
    plan has garnered support from my SBDA counselor who referred me to a
    grant writer who thinks it can get substantial funding to start.  It is
    designed to have steady and more than sufficient revenue streams so once
    started, it will be able to fund opening up more instances of itself
    here and in other countries too.  One thing
    that needs to happen to make this work is attention to the laws that
    currently exist that impede viable living strategies, force dependence
    on agribusiness, fossil fuels etc.  They need to be changed.  I consider a foundation dedicated to that need that is separate from the business.  It might be something like urbanhabitat.org but unlike that foundation, address other aspects of our habitat rather than just funding as that organization appears to focus on.  It might be possible to convince that foundation to morph into what is needed as money is only one and maybe the least concern concerning making viable habitat improving and sustaining situations.

    I am
    seriously worried about the Fukishima reactor situation and want to add
    my efforts to facilitate a major project to secure the facilities there
    so another very possible earthquake does not lead to catastrophic
    release of high level radioactive elements.  In that vein, I would like
    to see concerted effort taken to close down and secure all existing
    reactors as both not needed and too dangerous what with tectonic
    activity apparently increasing due to climate change as referenced in
    the paper linked to above.

    Here's hoping we can resolve the Fermi
    paradox (Can intelligent life survive its own information explosion?)
    in the affirmative before it is too late.

  • This I all sounds very interesting I cant wait to see what you contribute particularly with the windmill design. Also I would highly recomend reading a book called a pattern langauage its about sustainable artitectur and community design for human psyclological well being and the well being of the enviroment.
